Ray Hadley is seeking help from the government to create a new law that will see offenders have to surrender superannuation to victims and survivors of child sexual abuse.

Convicted paedophiles such as Maurice Van Ryn have long exploited a loophole that allows them to transfer their wealth into superannuation, preventing victims from receiving compensation.

Various lawyers, including Andrew Carpenter, a senior associate at Webster Lawyers, have been trying to put pressure on this case and others like it.

“It’s a shame that we haven’t really got any further since February,” Andrew told Ray Hadley.

My concern is that the government is simply saying, hey, we’re more than happy to tax hardworking Australians, but we don’t want to go after paedophiles and their superannuation.”
