We’re proud to share the inspiring news that actress and child abuse survivor Madeleine West has lent her voice to an important cause—Unplug 24, a national campaign aimed at raising awareness about the dangers of social media for children. On October 24, people across Australia are encouraged to disconnect from social media for 24 hours to draw attention to the growing threat of online predators and to create a space for important conversations within families.

Madeleine West, who survived abuse as a child, is now an online safety advocate. She emphasizes the harsh reality that social media has become a “hunting ground” for predators, where children are often tricked into sending inappropriate images, leading to devastating consequences.

Unplug 24, spearheaded by Wayne Holdsworth in memory of his son Mac—who tragically took his own life after being a victim of online sextortion—serves as a call for change. The event aims to help families discuss the dangers of the digital world and focus on child safety.
